Synonym/s: Alsophis leucomelas Schwartz, 1966
The classification of Alsophis antiguae is disputed. If the surviving subspecies A. a. sajdaki is given species status then the whole taxa A. antiguae will be rendered extinct. Refer to (Daltry & Mayer, 2010; Hedges et al. 2009; Uetz et al.) for differing views on the matter.
