Eos histrio histrio Müller, 1776:76

Sangihe red-and-blue lory

Taxonomy & Nomenclature

Synonym/s: Psittacus histrio Müller, 1776:76

Conservation Status

Last record: mid-1990's (Hume & Walters, 2012:169)

IUCN RedList status: "probably now extinct"

One or more populations (of probable hybrid status) were discovered in 1995 (Juniper & Parr, 1998). The last recorded date of pure bred individuals thus seems to actually pre-date the 1990's. No records of the species were made between the late 1970's and 1986.
