Grevillea divaricata R.Br. (1830:20)
Taxonomy & Nomenclature
Synonym/s: Hakea bathurstensis Christenh. & Byng in Global Fl. 4: 77 (2018)
"Sound (at least on basis of limited set of specimens from 1823; regarded as a fairly narrow segregate from the G. rosmarinifolia complex, and was reinstated as such in 2000)"
(Silcock et al., 2019:SM:9)
Conservation Status
Missing (Silcock et al., 2019:SM:9; Keighery, 2020) or Extinct (Humphreys et al., 2019; POWO, 2023; Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024) or Rediscovered [by implication] (Abeli et al., 2022b)
Last record: 1823 (Silcock et al., 2019:SM:9; Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024)
IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct)
Listed as extant in the wild by (Abeli et al., 2022b), but this may be a result of confusion with the closely related G. rosmariniflolia which was rediscovered after many decades.
"Some searches conducted in the past 20 years, but nowhere near enough to eliminate the possibility of it being extant... Known only from 1823 type collections by Allan Cunningham, when it was described as occurring frequently in dry open forest lands; extent of occurrence defined by route of Cunningham's loop is large. The country north of Bathurst varies a bit in degree of disturbance, but most likely stretches are heavily modified; recommended to be considered EN pending further surveys"
(Silcock et al., 2019:SM:9)
Distribution
north of Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia
