"This species, as first named, is Mariscus kunthianus. It has been called Cyperus kunthianus (Gaud.) Hbd. (e.g., by Kartesz, 1994) but that name had already been used for a different species by Nees; accordingly, the new name Cyperus neokunthianus has been published for it"
