Last record: 1922 (Kittelberger et al., 2024); 1980?

IUCN RedList status: Extinct

 

This species was last collected in 1922, and this is generally believed to have been the last record of the species. However, Hay (1986) reported a sighting from 1980. But this has been called into question (Collar et al. 1994).

Hiva Oa, Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia

Hypodigm

At least 11 specimens are known (BirdLife International, 2012).
