Missing (Benavides & Pitman, 2003) or rediscovered (in the wild?) (cf. Mora & Croat, 2016:161)

IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct)

 

According to Benavides & Pitman (2003) this species is known only from the type collection in Guayas province and is possibly extinct, although many online ads for the species can be found, and a recent paper (Mora & Croat, 2016) lists its distribution as encompassing a much broader area including Manabí and Los Ríos provinces, suggesting that the species has been rediscovered or rediscovered in the wild.
