Rediscovered on 25 December 1992 (Patrick, 1994)

 

Olinga fumosa was only known from a single specimen collected on 28 November 1917, the basis of the original description (Wise, 1958). It was rediscovered on Christmas Day 1992, by Brian Patrick when he observed 5 adults in McQuilkins Creek (Patrick, 1994).
