The species was not recorded during surveys in 1979-1980 (Caspers, 1980a,b; Malicky, 1980; Wells et al., 1983:407; Malicky, 2014a,b), nor in 2003-2004 (Malicky, 2014a,b). The species was treated as Extinct by Wells et al. (1983:407-408), although they suggested further surveys and had earlier in the book noted that the species was only "probably extinct" (p. 322). No further surveys appear to have been undertaken when the World Conservation Monitoring Centre listed the species as Extinct (WCMC, 1992:209), and thus its designation is perhaps also premature. Malicky (2014a,b) notes the completion of surveys in 2003-2004, and is thus perhaps the first declaration of extinction to be compelling.
