Bridal flower

Taxonomy & Nomenclature

Conservation Status

Missing (Silcock et al., 2019:SM:10 [as 'Probably extinct']) or Extinct (Wilson, 1994:300 [as 'presumed extinct']; Humphreys et al., 2019; Albani Rocchetti et al., 2022; POWO, 2023)

Last record: 1830 (Norfolk Island) (Wilson, 1994:300); 1830 (Phillip Island) (Silcock et al., 2019:SM:10); 1937 (Pickard, 1983; Silcock et al., 2019:SM:10, 2020:7, 2021:7) (wild); February 1949 (Wilson, 1994:300) (cultivation); 1949 (Lord Howe Island) (DECC NSW, 2007)

A survey in 2001 or 2002 on Lord Howe Island did not record this species (DECC NSW, 2007). This species has been identified as one of the 50 best candidates for de-extinction, ranking 6/50 (Albani Rocchetti et al., 2022).
