Last record: 19 April 1932 or later; 1956 (Laerm, 1981)

 

The Cumberland Island pocket gopher (Geomys pinetis cumberlandius) was thought to have disappeared from its only known habitat, Cumberland Island, Georgia, but was seemingly rediscovered during the late 1970's or very early 1980's (Laerm, 1981).
