Leimacomys buettneri Matschie, 1893:109
Groove-toothed forest mouse, Yefuli
Taxonomy & Nomenclature
Synonym/s: Leimacomys buttneri Matschie, 1893:109 (orthographic error); Leimacomys büttneri Matschie, 1893:109
Conservation Status
Missing
Last record: 1890 (Fisher & Blomberg, 2012; Lee et al., 2017); 1893 (Martin et al., 2023)
IUCN RedList status: Data Deficient
Only known from two specimens collected in 1890 (van der Straeten & Schlitter, 2008). Two surveys during the 1960's didn't uncover the species (Lidicker, 1989:35). Likewise, two surveys, one in 1994 and the other in 1999 or 2000, failed to rediscover this species (Decher et. al. 2000). It's historical distribution may have included Ghana as the type locality is close to the Togolese/Ghanaian border (van der Straeten & Schlitter, 2008).
Distribution
Bismarckburg, Togo (central)
Biology & Ecology
