Taxonomy & Nomenclature
Synonym/s: Procellaria phillipii Gray, 1862:246
A Pterodroma petrel formerly occurred on Norfolk Island, but its taxonomic identity must await the discovery of subfossil remains. It may have simply been an extirpated population of the widespread P. solandri, or it may represent an undescribed taxon (Hume & Walters, 2012:60).
