Taxonomy & Nomenclature
Synonym/s: Acrostichum sprucei Baker; Hook. & Baker, Syn. Fil. 411 (1868)
Conservation Status
Last record: before 1863 (Navarrete & Pitman, 2003a)
Since rediscovered (see below) (cf. León-Yánez et al., 2011:843)
IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered
The IUCN reported another species, Elaphoglossum pala, as rediscovered after 100+ years from an unknown type locality (Navarrete & Pitman, 2003b), whereas this species was missing for potentially longer and the type locality is known (so it could be searched). Thus recent records of the species (León-Yánez et al., 2011:843; iNaturalist (Dr. Barbara Roy)) mean it is best treated as rediscovered.
