IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered

In 2003, the species was considered endemic to Ecuador (Navarrete & Pitman, 2003), but more recent sources state that it also inhabits Tolima, Colombia (Hassler, 2004-2023; Murillo-P. et al., 2008, 2023; POWO, 2023), but this collection needs verifying (León-Yánez et al., 2011:842).
