IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered

In 2003, this species was considered endemic to Ecuador from which it hadn't been recorded in 100 years (Navarrete & Pitman, 2003), but more recent sources also list a record from Risaralda, Colombia (Hassler, 2004-2023; Murillo-P. et al., 2023; POWO, 2023), and there are also recent records from Ecuador (León-Yánez et al., 2011:842).
