Conservation Status

Last record: 1800's (Aguraiuja & Wood, 2003)

Rediscovered on 23 April 2002 (Aguraiuja & Wood, 2003)

IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered

 

The rediscovery of the species consisted of finding a single individual (Aguraiuja & Wood, 2003), which died in 2011 (Kishida, 2015). But a subpopulation of 90 more individuals (c. 75 mature) had been discovered the year before (i.e. 2010) (Ibid.). It is still treated as extinct by (POWO, 2023).
