Asplenium centrifugale Baker (1889:360)

Christmas Island spleenwort

Taxonomy & Nomenclature

Baker described a South American species (contra Hassler, 2004-2023) as Asplenium centrifugale, in 1874, but illegally later (1889) described a new species from Christmas Island using the same binomial. As the latter is a junior homonym, the later (1905) validly published name for the Christmas Island taxon is A. listeri.
