"During our survey, however, we did gather anecdotal indications that C. m. hypolizus may still exist in the wild, particularly in Simeulue’s northern primary rainforest areas. Given its scarcity, however, poachers claimed during interviews that in order to successfully capture any remaining hypolizus, trips of multiple days, if not weeks, had to be taken deep into forested areas."
