Although listed as Extinct in the Wild by the IUCN (Orthopteroid Specialist Group, 1996) and thus implying that the species still exists in captivity, this seems to be a mistake as no individuals are known to survive in any ex situ collection (K. Zippel cited in Maas, 2011; Dalrymple et al., 2023).

Oahu, Hawaiian Islands, USA
Type locality: Pacific, North-Central Pacific, Hawaii, Hawaiian Is., Oahu, 457 to 610 meters above sea level

Hypodigm
The holotype is a female (Nishida, 1979).
Zimmerman (1948) was only aware of 1 specimen, presumably the holotype, and thus it seems as if the species may only be known from a single record.
