Synonym/s: Forsstroemia nitida Lindb. (1869:73); Leptodon nitidus (Lindb.) Sull. (1874); Neckera macounii Sull. (1865) (nomen nudum) [fide Ireland, 1974]

Extinct (Bryophyte Specialist Group, 2000; Baillie & Butcher, 2012:88; Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024; NatureServe, 2024)

Last record: 20 July 1864 (Ireland, 1974; Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024 [as 1864])

IUCN RedList status: Extinct

 

The original site of the three collections was destroyed by 1892, and searches in 1972 (Ireland, 1974:458) and 2001 (NatureServe) failed to observe this distinctive species.
