Daphne baksanica Pobed. (1950:135)

Taxonomy & Nomenclature

Synonym/s: Daphne oleoides subsp. baksanica (Pobed.) Halda in Acta Mus. Richnov., Sect. Nat. 5: 165 (1998)

Conservation Status

Extinct [by implication] (Humphreys et al., 2019) (see below)

Humphreys et al. (2019) are concerned with species (but not subspecies) that have historically been considered extinct, and treat D. baksanica as a synonym of Daphne oleoides baksanica, in line with their not treating subspecies, but this does not invalidate the taxon since the synonymy is homotypic. Therefore, D. baksanica, as treated as a full species by POWO (2024), is best treated as Extinct by implication (fide Humphreys et al., 2019).
