Considered an unplaced name by (Christenhusz et al., 2013), but it is valid according to (Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024; POWO, 2024). It is noted by (Wilson et al., 2022) that further taxonomic work is needed to investigate its relationship to T. praestans, especially since it has precedence in virtue of being described earlier.
