Conservation Status

Last record: 6 December 1888 (Ogilvie-Grant, 1889 [record; date]; Webb, 1992:54 [type specimen only])

Rediscovered [by implication] (BirdLife International, 2022)

 

Diamond (1987) speculated that G. woodfordi was Extinct on Bougainville (subspecies tertius, now H. tertia) and Guadalcanal (nominate). Today H. woodfordi is known to be extant on Guadalcanal (BirdLife International, 2022).
