Salmo pallaryi Pellegrin, 1924
Lake Sidi Ali trout
Taxonomy & Nomenclature
A formally undescribed population from nearby Lake Isli may be S. pallaryi (Delling & Doadrio, 2005).
Conservation Status
Extinct
Last record: 1934 (Delling et al., 2023)
IUCN RedList status: Extinct
Introduction of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) into Lake Sidi Ali in 1934 is thought to have driven the species extinct sometime during the 1930's, and probably around 1938. However, a formally undescribed population from nearby Lake Isli may be S. pallaryi (Delling & Doadrio, 2005).
Distribution
Lake Sidi Ali, Morocco
Biology & Ecology
