Synonym/s: Hubbsina turneri de Buen 1940; Girardinichthys ireneae Radda & Meyer, 2003

 

Conservation Status

Rediscovered

 

Listed as extinct, with an estimated date of extinction as 1990, by (Burkhead, 2012). But it still survives according to (Moncayo-Estrada et al., 2022), with the species G. ireneae considered a synonym of this species by the Goodeid Working Group (http://www.goodeidworkinggroup.com/girardinichthys-ireneae) and thus probably being the source of the recent records of the species given by (Moncayo-Estrada et al., 2022).
