There appear to be multiple records of the species since 1989 (source), but the protologue dating to 1995 only mentions the type collection M. Lazarides 6398 (collected 27 July 1959) and a referred specimen J.S. Beard 4199 (no collection date given) (Cowan & Maslin, 1995:73).
