This taxon is best treated as a synonym of S. oreophilus, which might itself be a synonym of S. palmeri (Poole et al., 2007:524).

Extinct (POWO, 2023; Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024) or Invalid (synonym of S. oreophilus/palmeri) (Poole et al., 2007:524)
Last record: 5 September 1954 (source; Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024 [as 1954])
Intensive survey efforts have failed to record this species since the type collection (Burgess & Northington, 1979; Poole, 1989; Poole et al., 2007:524), and it is likely synonymous with a congener (either S. oreophilus or S. palmeri) (Poole et al., 2007:524). But it is still accepted as a species by (POWO, 2023).
