Céphalaire de Kesrouan, سيوان كسروان

Taxonomy & Nomenclature

Synonym/s: Cephalaria kesrouanica Mouterde (1973:20) [used by Greuter, 1994:42]

Conservation Status

Extinct (Greuter, 1991, 1994; Domina et al., 2015; Humphreys et al., 2019; Albani Rocchetti et al., 2022; Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024) or Rediscovered [by implication] (POWO, 2023)

Last record: 1939 (Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024); 1939 or later (Domina et al., 2015:199)

POWO (2023) displays a photo of a living specimen taken in 2018 on Mount Lebanon by Hicham El Zein, implying that the species has only recently been rediscovered, consistent with the fact that the species was presumed extinct as late as 2015 (Domina et al., 2015:199).
