Myriapoda (Centipedes, Millipedes, Pauropoda & Symphyla)

The oldest known air-breathing terrestrial animal is a millipede (Pneumodesmus newmani) which lived in what is now Scotland more than 400mya, during either the Early Devonian or Late Silurian. Only a single specimen is known.
