Rediscovered or erroneously listed as extinct
Although listed as extinct by (Coney, 2001; Cowie et al., 2017), and possibly extinct by (Abbot, 1989; Régnier et al., 2009), the species still survives and is exploited as a food source and for the shell trade (Flores, 2014).
