Ceratozamia aurantiaca Pérez-Farr., Gut.-Ortega, J.L.Haynes & Vovides (2021:249)

Taxonomy & Nomenclature

Synonym/s: Ceratozamia sp. “Presa Alemán”; Ceratozamia martinezii Mart.-Domínguez, Nic.-Mor. & D.W.Stev. in Nordic J. Bot. 2022(1)-e03348: 2 (2021)

This species was known as a population since the 1970's, but despite being introduced into cultivation in the USA (predominantly Florida) it was only formally described, twice accidentally (as C. aurantiaca and C. martinezii), in 2021/22 (Pérez-Farrera et al., 2021; Martínez-Domínguez et al., 2022). It has been argued that the name C. aurantiaca should be the correct name for the species (Haynes, 2022).
