Camellia (Camellia sp.) Cultivars: Extinct and Rediscovered

The number of extinct and lost Camellia cultivars is very long. This reflects both their popularity (many cultivars originated outside the genus' natural geographical range) and their amenability to artificial selection. The International Camellia Society maintains a Camellia Register that lists both accepted (in bold) and rejected cultivar names, including those that are believed extinct.
