Neocnemis occidentalis Crotch, 1867

Taxonomy & Nomenclature

Conservation Status

Missing

Last record: 1865

IUCN RedList status: Extinct

Only known from a single specimen collected on Santa Maria (Azores) in 1865 that may have originated from outside the Azores (Stüben, 2019). In either case, it has never been recorded since.

Distribution

putatively Santa Maria (Island), Azores (eastern); elsewhere?

Although only known from a single specimen collected on Santa Maria (Azores) in 1865, it has been suggested that it was in fact transported to the island and thus its natural distribution lies elsewhere (Stüben, 2019).
