IUCN RedList status: Data Deficient
Known from Reunion from the 19th century. A single specimen was collected from Madagascar in 1868. However, the lectotype from Réunion is too degraded to permit comparison of the two specimens to tell whether they belong to the same species, or if Madgascar and Réunion both had endemic Scotophilus species.
