Glischropus javanus Chasen, 1939:189

Javan thick-thumbed bat

Taxonomy & Nomenclature

G. javanus may be a synonym of G. tylopus (Menu, 1987; Corbet & Hill, 1992).

Conservation Status

Last (and only) record: 1934 (Lumsden et al., 1998:87)

Rediscovered in: c.2004 (Hutson et al., 2008)

IUCN RedList status: Data Deficient

It was previously reportedly rediscovered in 1996 from the Krakatau archipelago (Lumsden et al., 1998:87), but these specimens appear to no longer be regarded as belonging to G. javanus as it is currently confined by accepted records to Mt Pangeango (Hutson et al., 2008; Csorba, 2011; Görföl et al., 2016). Little survey work has been done on the species, recorded only twice in 70 years, so its distribution may be broader.
