Taxonomy & Nomenclature

Considered a synonym of Hipposideros pomona by (Thong et al., 2012), which was split into H. pomona and H. gentilis by (Srinivasulu & Srinivasulu, 2018). The locus typicus falls within the geographical distribution of the latter (Srinivasulu & Srinivasulu, 2018; Srinivasulu et al., 2020).

Invalid (synonym of Hipposideros gentilis) (Thong et al., 2012; Srinivasulu & Srinivasulu, 2018)

Last record: after 1945; 1947 (Fisher & Blomberg, 2012; Lee et al., 2017)

Known only from the holotype, which is badly damaged.

Type locality: Vinh, Nghe An Province, central Vietnam.
