Batadomba cat
Taxonomy & Nomenclature
In 2005 (Manamendra-Arachchi et. al. 2005) reported the finding of a sub-fossil right middle phalanx in 1982 in a midden at Batadomba Cave, near Kuruwita, Sri Lanka. Based upon morphological analysis, it was distinct from both Panthera leo and P. tigris. However, pending further investigation (Ibid.) tentatively assigned the phalanx to P. tigris.
