Taxonomy & Nomenclature

Synonyms: Mya crassa W. Wood, 1815 (basionym); Lamprotula crassa (Wood, 1815); Unio (Quadrula) mansuyi Dautzenberg & H. Fischer, 1908

 

Conservation Status

Last record: 1990's (Do, 2011, 2013)

Since Rediscovered (taxonomically) [by implication] (Richter, 2012; Graf & Cummings, 2025)

IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct)

 

Was considered a Missing (= possibly Extinct) Vietnamese endemic by (Do, 2011, 2013; Cowie et al., 2017), with a last record sometime in the 1990's (Do, 2011, 2013). While the synonymy of Lamprotula mansuyi under Gibbosula crassa has been disputed over the last half century (Richter, 2012; Graf & Cummings, 2025), but is today widely accepted and thus G. crassa is undopubtedly extant after being considered possibly Extinct.
