Clubmoss everlasting, Table Mountain daisy bush
Taxonomy & Nomenclature
Synonym/s: Helichrysum selaginoides (Sond. & F.Muell.) F.Muell. ex Benth. in Fl. Austral. 3: 634 (1867)
Conservation Status
Missing (Silcock et al., 2019:SM:4 [as 'Possibly extinct']) or Extinct (Humphreys et al., 2019; Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024; POWO, 2024) or Rediscovered (ex-situ) (Abeli et al., 2022b)
Last record: 1849 (Silcock et al., 2019:SM:4; Christenhusz & Govaerts, 2024)
At least several unsuccesful searches for the species have taken place (Kirkpatrick & Gilfedder, 1999:21; Silcock et al., 2019:SM:4). Cultivated at the St. Andrews Botanic Garden, Fife, UK according to (Abeli et al., 2022b). Previously thought to have been rediscovered (in the wild) in 2000 but this turned out to be the new species O. reflexifolius (Silcock et al., 2019:SM:4).
