There appears to only be two known photos of a single individual (an old female) of the subspecies, caught on 20 September 1890 at Albergaria in the Serra do Gerês mountains (Almaça, 1992). Note the rope tied around the back right leg in both photos.

Above: the little known second photo of the animal caught on 20 September 1890, it appeared in (Almaça, 1992). The present, higher quality version (Barbosa, 2018) was brought to my attention by Pedro Henrique Amancio Padilha.
