IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered

 

The species is regarded as extinct in the Canary Islands (POWO, 2024), and was noted by Cockerell (1928:67) as being "extinct, or nearly so" but has since been rediscovered (Humphreys et al., 2019) and a decade ago around 40-50 individuals were known to exist (Carvalho, 2011). The population trend since then is unknown to me.
