Rediscovered in: April 2005 (Rindi et al., 2006:442)
Described by Harvey (1860) based upon material from Hong Kong, with further material from Madagascar noted by Harriot (1889). The species disappeared from the scientific record until 2005 when it was rediscovered in three separate African localities: Zanzibar (politically Tanzania), and South Africa (Durban Botanical Gardens; Tsitsikamma National Park, Eastern Cape Province) (Rindi et al., 2006). The material from Africa may not be from the same species as that originally reported from Hong Kong by (Harvey, 1860).
