Last (and only) record: 1927; 1928 (Fisher & Blomberg, 2012; Lee et al., 2017; Martin et al., 2023)

IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct)

 

The Ethiopian amphibious rat is only known from the holotype. Several attempts have been made to collect this species again but without any success (Kerbis Peterhans & Lavrenchenko, 2008).
