IUCN RedList status: Critically Endangered (Possibly Extinct)

 

Du Toit's torrent frog (Arthroleptides dutoiti) has not been recorded since 1962, and four attempts to relocate the species between 2001 and 2004 have failed. It is therefore listed as 'Critically Endangered' by the IUCN (Lötters et al. 2004). However, an unconfirmed record from the Ugandan side of Mount Elgon in 2003 exists (Pomeroy et al. 2006:3).

Type locality: "Koitobos (Koitobross) River, eastern slopes of Mount Elgon, Kenya Colony at about 7,200 feet".
