There have been no recent records of this species despite "numerous surveys" and it is therefore possibly extinct (IUCN SSC Amphibian Specialist Group, 2013).

Ngozi Crater, Poroto Mountains, Mbeya Region, Tanzania (southwestern)

Hypodigm

Only known from the holotype collected in 1930 (Loveridge, 1933; Blackburn, 2012).
