Taxonomy & Nomenclature

A formally undescribed population from nearby Lake Isli may be S. pallaryi (Delling and Doadrio, 2005).

 

Conservation Status

Last record: 1930's (1934 or later?)

IUCN RedList status: Extinct

 

Introduction of the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) into Lake Sidi Ali in 1934 is thought to have driven the species extinct sometime during the 1930's, and probably around 1938. However, a formally undescribed population from nearby Lake Isli may be S. pallaryi (Delling and Doadrio, 2005).

Hypodigm

Known from at least 19 preserved specimens according to (Delling and Doadrio, 2005), but (Crivelli, 2006) states that "only two specimens of this species exist in a Museum".
